Introduction

Identify the root causes of accidents and prevent recurrence.

Our accident and incident investigation training will give you a broad understanding of the accident investigation process, looking at the benefits of accident prevention and putting the emphasis on practical training exercises and real-life case studies based on typical school related injuries.

Aims and Objectives 

This accident investigation training course will help to ensure that your school complies with relevant legislation, including RIDDOR (1995) by providing practical guidance about what needs to be reported and how to do it.  Attendees will have an understanding of:

o Injuries and ill health relating to people at school

o Reportable Occupational Diseases

o Incidents to pupils and other people who are not at work – defining what is reportable

Candidates attending the course will have skills to develop accident monitoring systems within their own schools to reduce the risk of major injury occurring.

Course Programme

Topics covered include:

• Principles of accident investigation

• Benefits of accident prevention through monitoring

• Accident reporting and scope of investigation

• Accident investigation techniques

• Stages of accident investigation

• Practical exercises and case study

Course Material

A course handbook will be provided for this half day course.  Candidates will have an opportunity to discuss accident and incident data relevant to their own schools.

Course Test

There is no formal assessment for this course. Delegates who successfully complete the accident investigation training in full will receive a certificate of training.

All consultants are experienced in delivering engaging health and safety training, and hold professional membership of the chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
