Introduction

Why is this course important?

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 place specific responsibilities on duty holders, including designers and contractors, and make them accountable for the consideration and management of health and safety during construction works. 

Aims and Objectives 

The aim of the Regulations is to minimise the risk of serious injuries and workplace fatalities on construction sites. By taking this course, learners will understand the importance of planning for and integrating safety management into the planning and design stages of construction projects and ensure that their work practices are complying with the law.

What are the benefits? 

This CDM course has been designed toprivide learners with a practical knowledte of key duty holder requirements under the CDM regulations.  

Course Programme

Topics covered include:

• Introduction to CDM outlining the key points of the CDM regulations as well as gaining an understanding of who has duties and what they are.

• Planning and preparation providing learners with detail about notifiable projects, what to include in a client brief and what information will be needed when preparing the pre-construction phase, the phase plan and the health and safety file. 

• Further guidance on how to ascertain that the people appointed to the project are suitable qualified to organise, plan and prepare it adequately including pre-qualification questionnaires, site rules in adherance with safeguarding and fire controls plus provision of welfare facilities. 

Course Material

A CDM training course handbook will be provided for this short course (pdf and Flipbook format).  Candidates will have an opportunity to discuss CDM projects relevant to their own schools.

Course Test

There is no formal assessment for this course. Delegates who successfully complete the CDM training in full will receive a certificate of training.
