Why is this course important?

Facilities management have responsibilities in all areas of a business, from improving environmental sustainability and saving money to ensuring health and safety compliance.

Aims and Objectives 

This half-day course aims to provide candidates with a comprehensive overview of the roles and responsibilities associated with their job role with an extensive selection of ideas and approaches that can be carried out to ensure the provision of a high-quality service. The topics covered are wide-ranging with specific emphasis placed on meeting the legislative requirements of health and safety law.

• Services Management – an overview of essential services that you are required to co-ordinate including

o Waste disposal

o General inspections

• People Management

o Managing contractors

o Managing other staff including day-to-day problems

• Health and Safety – school inspection records and making them work

o Daily, Weekly, Monthly inspections

o Fire Safety

o Handling substances including bodily fluids

o Risk Assessments

o Follow-up maintenance inspections

• Feedback and Monitoring

o Reviewing Maintenance Tasks

o Planning Maintenance tasks and Trend analysis

Course Material

A site Manager/Maintenance Officer course handbook will be provided for this half day course (pdf and Flipbook format).  Candidates will have an opportunity to discuss maintenance problems relevant to their own schools.

Course Test

There is no formal assessment for this course. Delegates who successfully complete the Site Maintenance Officer training in full will receive a certificate of training.
